• Severe storm chances for Wednesday evening

    By: James Aydelott

    Quick Facts:

    • Storms return Wednesday, severe weather likely
    • Cooler temperatures arrive for the end of the week

Although this past weekend started off on a cold and wet note, the sunshine on Sunday let a lot of people enjoy time outside! The warm weather and sunshine will continue for a few days before the next chance for storms arrives and temperatures drop behind a cold front.

By the middle of the week, things start to change across the area. The warm temperatures and strong winds will be sticking around through most of the day, but more clouds will roll in and storm chances will be the big impact for the day. The latest timing of these storms looks to be in the afternoon with the strongest storms arriving later in the evening/overnight hours.

All of Green Country has the chance for severe weather but northwestern and southern portions of the FOX23 viewing area has the highest chance of seeing the severe storms.

For these storms, the biggest threats look to be very large hail and strong winds. These strong winds will be stronger than the winds throughout the day (which will be gusting to 30 mph at times). Within the storms, gusts of more than 60 mph will be possible and there is a chance we could see some tornadoes develop with these storms as well.

As storms get close to Green Country, the FOX23 Severe Weather Team will be fine-tuning the timing and impacts of these storms. DOWNLOADING THE FOX23 WEATHER APP will allow you to stay updated from anywhere at any time.

If you haven't done it already, review your severe weather plan. Have a location to stay safe, practice the plan, and make sure everyone can do it should you be separated at work/school.

After all the rain and storms clear out of the area, cooler temperatures arrive with strong northwest winds.

You'll want to make sure you have your umbrella handy in the morning with the rain chances pushing out but by the afternoon, having a light jacket would be a good idea.

Keep those jackets handy. Temperatures in the morning will be down in the 40s again with afternoon highs only climbing into the mid-60s. The good news is that there will be lots of sunshine to enjoy.

By the weekend, more warm weather will be moving back in. Temperatures climb into the low-70s and then eventually back close to 80-degrees. More clouds and even some rain chances will return on Sunday but it doesn't look like a washout right now.

If you have any plans for Easter, make sure you start making back-up-plans with the showers.
