Sapulpa HS alum realizes WNBA dream: ‘All I can do is smile’

Former Arkansas guard Chelsea Dungee is projected to go in the top 10 of Thursday’s WNBA draft, per ESPN.

Dungee, a Sapulpa High School alumna, has worked tirelessly for a career in pro basketball since she was four-years-old.

FOX23 first highlighted Dungee in 2012, when she was a 14-year-old phenom scoring offers from Division I schools like Oklahoma State, North Carolina, and Texas.

“All I can do is smile,” Dungee said. “You think about all the hard work you’ve put in. Obviously it doesn’t go unnoticed...Now you’re reaping the reward of it. It just feels amazing.”

Dungee teased on social media this week that she had a forthcoming endorsement deal with the Jordan brand.

Dungee said she told WNBA teams over virtual meetings they would be getting a woman who looks on the bright side both on and off the court, and who would give the game everything she has 40 minutes per game.
