Thunder trades Russell Westbrook to Houston

TULSA, Okla. — ESPN is reporting the Oklahoma City Thunder is trading Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets.

The trade for Westbrook will include Chris Paul, two future draft picks and pick swaps, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Westbrook was in Tulsa when ESPN reported the trade. He hosted a comedy show at Cain's Ballroom downtown. FOX23 Sports Director Nathan Thompson got this video of Westbrook addressing the crowd. He did not mention the report:

Russell Westbrook after trade

We were waiting to interview Russell Westbrook at Cain's Ballroom tonight when news broke he was getting traded to Houston (LINK: ). I was scheduled to get to ask him the first question about it, but, as he was walking over, he let the PR people know he was calling off the media availability. This is all we've gotten to hear from Russ tonight -- him starting off the comedy show he's hosting tonight. I'll have live reports from Cain's Ballroom on FOX23 News at 10 and 10:20.

The Seattle SuperSonics drafted Westbrook in 2008 and he played his first season in Oklahoma when the franchise relocated to OKC later that year.

Since then he's been named an NBA All-Star eight times and NBA MVP in 2017.

In addition to several other league honors, Westbrook broke records with the Thunder including setting the record for most triple-doubles recorded in a single season.
