OKLAHOMA CITY – In the throes of heartbreak, Adam Bishop found a way to make his Regent Prep football players smile.
“Hey, did you guys know you don’t have to go to school tomorrow?” he asked, and receiver Jack Wright’s face broke into a wide grin.
Bishop said he couldn’t be prouder of the third-ranked Rams, who battled No. 1 Shattuck nearly to the wire Thursday before falling 42-26 in the Class B championship game before about 2,000 chilled spectators at Western Heights High School.
The final margin made it seem like a comfortable win for the Indians, who captured their second straight gold ball, third in four years and 11 overall.
