- Heisman winning quarterback Kyler Murray announced he is declaring for the NFL draft
- The Oklahoma Sooners star quarterback tweeted the annoucement on Monday afternoon.
I have declared for the NFL Draft.— Kyler Murray (@TheKylerMurray) January 14, 2019
The Heisman award winner announced Monday that he is declaring for the NFL draft. He posted about it on his Twitter account.
This does not guarantee that Murray will choose to play football over baseball. Oakland A's players are expected to report to camp in Mesa, AZ on Feb. 15. The NFL Scouting Combine begins on Feb. 26. It would seem Murray would have to make a decision during that timeframe, given it'd be hard to train for the combine and be in A's camp.
The Oakland A's drafted Murray in June, but allowed him to return to OU to play football this fall. They said they expected him to declare for the NFL draft last week. Today's decision does officially end any chances of Murray, a redshirt junior this past year, returning to quarterback the Sooners.
OU coach Lincoln Riley also thinks Murray could go early in the draft.
