For Union, the run was working. The pass was working. And the defense was finally working.

All that meant the top-ranked Redskins finished an unbeaten season with a 48-28 win over No. 8 Mustang at Union-Tuttle Stadium on Friday night.

Union (10-0) will face Edmond Santa Fe (5-5) next week when the Class 6AI playoffs open.

“It wasn’t a game plan, really,” Union junior running back Darius Boone said after gaining 197 yards on 31 carries. “But our line worked real hard. When the pass wasn’t working, the run was. Then the pass started working.”
