• Tulsa police report rise in prostitution and sex trafficking

    By: Lynn Casey

    TULSA, Okla. - Quick facts:
    • Tulsa police say they’re seeing an increase in prostitution and sex trafficking.
    • They say part of the increase is due to a newer kind of offender.
    • A sergeant with the VICE Unit says gang members found out it was safer to deal in women than in drugs.
    • They say it’s even legally safer for them to deal in underage girls, because getting caught with a carload of girls won’t get offenders arrested like a carload of drugs.
    • This has led to the Tulsa Police VICE Unit teaming up with the Gang Unit to help identify people and make arrests.
