Tulsa police chase ends with meth trafficking arrest

TPD says a motorcyclist is dead after an accident near East 41st Street and South Garnett Road on Thursday night.

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police were involved in a short chase Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, it started with a traffic stop on East 21st Street. Officers tried to stop Christopher Matthews, after his vehicle matched the description of a vehicle officers were looking for in the area.

Matthews fled from officers westbound on 21st and turned north on Yale, before crashing his car.

Officers took Matthews into custody and an “involved citizen” was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Matthews had outstanding felony warrants and was in possession of a large amount of meth.

He was booked for several charges including eluding, trafficking meth, leaving the scene of an injury accident and traffic charges.

His bond amounts to more than $229,000.
