Trucks catch fire in Verdigris, spread to building

CLAREMORE, Okla. — Quick Facts:

Firefighters responded early Friday morning to trash truck fires that spread to a building in Verdigris.

The call went out around 2 a.m. at Champion Refuge near Highway 266 and Route 66 in Rogers County.

Two of the company's four garbage trucks caught fire and spread to the building. The caps of the trucks were already on fire when the first truck arrived.

The building has mostly exterior damage, with some minor interior damage.

Power had to be cut to the building.

One truck from the company is currently out collecting garbage from homes.

The state fire marshal will investigate; investigators say the fire does not yet look suspicious.
