State troopers found a missing boater after his abandoned boat was found on the lake Sunday night.
Cherokee County deputies joined in the search Sunday, but called it off overnight because it was too dark to search.
Authorities resumed their search around 6 a.m. Monday morning, finding the man at 7:45. He had drowned.
Troopers believe he was unloading his boat when the wind caught it. The boater likely tried to swim out to catch the boat.
His truck was still running with his shoes, socks and wallet inside.
The state Department of Safety identified the man as Zane Howe, 51.
