Utah’s Hogle Zoo welcomes new baby zebra, Archie

SALT LAKE CITY — An adorable new baby has arrived at Utah’s Hogle Zoo.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Hartmann’s mountain zebras Poppy and Scooby welcomed a male foal, Archie, on May 31.

“Archie is named after Arches National Park, and will join his 5-month-old big brother, Zion, in just a couple weeks on Savanna!” the zoo said in a Facebook post Tuesday. “Until then, he can be seen with his mom in the flex yard right by the train station most of the day while he gets acquainted with his new world.”

The zoo described the 100-pound youngster as a “mama’s boy” who “is very curious” and likes to run, according to the post.

“Please give him a big welcome and come say hello to the new zoo friend!” the post read.
