MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Haitian American rapper Zoey Dollaz told authorities he was shot several times early Thursday by someone in an SUV who pulled up next to his vehicle in Miami Beach.
Dollaz, 30, whose real name is Elvis Millord, said he was driving his black Mercedes sedan on Interstate 195 toward a Miami strip club shortly after midnight, WFOR reported.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, the rapper, whose songs include “Love, Money and Bullets,” said that a silver SUV pulled up and fired multiple shots, striking him in the leg, WPLG reported.
Millord told authorities he made a U-turn toward Miami Beach and flagged down a Miami Beach Police Department officer, WFOR reported.
“The victim stated he was coming from a private party in Miami Beach but did not have any altercations prior to the shooting incident,” the Florida Highway Patrol said in a statement.
Donny “Dizzy” Flores, who said he is a friend of the rapper’s and is on his management team, told WPLG that Millord was heading to Miami’s Booby Trap strip club when the shooting occurred.
“To see this is like crazy,” Flores told the television station.
A female passenger in the car was not injured, authorities told WTVJ.
Millord was taken to an area hospital for treatment and is now at home recovering, according to WPLG.
