Owner charged after 8 dogs left outside in Texas freeze without shelter

HOUSTON — A pet owner in Texas has been charged after authorities said he left eight dogs outside with no shelter as the state continues to dig out from under snow and ice.

Someone had reported the man to the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce. When officers from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Harris County Pets went to the location, they said they found the dogs and that the animals had appeared to have been kept outside for days with no access to shelter, KIAH reported.

The Houston Humane Society said the dogs are all severely malnourished and one had a broken jaw, KHOU reported.

The dogs are being sheltered and treated by the Humane Society.

There is no word on the pig that was featured in the Humane Society’s social media post.
