SPRING, Texas — A naked man armed with a baseball bat smashed his way into a Texas home last week, authorities said.
Nobody was at home when the man, identified as Guy Dixon, broke into the home in Spring, but it was caught on surveillance video, KHOU reported.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said Dixon has been charged with burglary of a habitation.
“It seemed pretty surreal, you know,” homeowner Scott Faisal told the television station. “The gentleman had no clothes on, that was another thing; it just seemed like a scene out of a horror movie.”
Faisal and his family were in Virginia when Dixon allegedly broke into the home. According to surveillance video, the man walked around the family’s home at about 11 a.m. on Jan. 30 and tried to enter the backyard through a locked gate, KHOU reported.
According to the video, Dixon made it into the backyard and, using the baseball bat, smashed his way into the living room. As alarms rang throughout the home, Dixon is shown wandering throughout the home, KHOU reported.
The video confirms the reasoning behind Faisal’s decision to move his family out of state a month ago. He told the television station that crime in his neighborhood appeared to be on the rise.
“Just overall, I felt like things were getting closer and closer, from a crime perspective you know,” Faisal told KHOU. “Home burglaries, stores, you know, things like that, so it just made us reevaluate our decision to stay there.”
Faisal said he is glad he followed his instincts and is glad the intruder was caught.
“I am thanking God on a daily basis,” Faisal told KHOU. “There are multiple times during the day when I am saying that.”
