Home improvement retailer Lowe’s is looking to boost its staffing, as the company announced it will be hiring more than 50,000 new store employees this spring.
It is also going to pay out $80 million in discretionary bonuses to current employees.
Active hourly employees in stores, call centers and distribution centers will get $300 if they are full-time and $150 if they are part-time or seasonal. The payment will be given on Feb. 5.
This is the seventh time the company has paid a bonus, or what it calls a “special payment,” since the coronavirus pandemic started.
The company has hired 90,000 associates for permanent jobs over the past year. The additional 50,000 workers will be seasonal or full-time positions for what is being called the store’s busiest season.
