Las Vegas police rescue dog from hot car as temperatures reach triple digits

LAS VEGAS — Police in Nevada are being hailed as heroes after they rescued a dog from a hot car.

According to KTNV, the incident occurred Saturday in Las Vegas as outdoor temperatures climbed into the triple digits. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers arrived to find a small dog that had been locked inside a car for more than five hours, Capt. Dori Koren tweeted Sunday.

“Our cops quickly broke the window and rescued him just in time,” Koren captioned a video that included footage from the scene. “He was panting for air & had a very dry nose, but he’s doing much better now after some [water] & AC.”

Koren went on to urge followers to share the clip “to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.”

No further details about the incident, including whether charges have been filed, were immediately available.
