Saint Joseph’s College in Standish will issue $50 tickets to any students who are found not wearing masks.

One student was outside not wearing a mask correctly and an officer approached him, WMTW reported.

“He kind of saw me walking without a mask on. I had it below my nose and rolled right around to me [and] said, ‘Hate to do this to you, but I have to give you a $50 fine for not wearing your mask,’” Patrick Meyers told WMTW.

Over the past two weeks, officers have issued at least 21 tickets.

At the beginning of the school year, the students had to be placed in remote learning and told to stay in their dorm rooms as much as possible after two students were believed to have contracted COVID-19 over Labor Day and brought it back to campus, infecting nine others, WGME reported at the time.
