GLENDALE, Ariz. — A 9-year-old girl in Arizona was honored by the Glendale Fire Department on Wednesday for saving her family from a house fire.
KPNX says Rhae Parks, 9, was surprised when she was heading to a school assembly to learn it was for her. The Glendale Fire Department came and gave Rhae the “Little Hero Award” for helping to save her family during a house fire last February. Her family was also there too to support her.
One of the firefighters in attendance, Matt Bender, was there during the fire. He also happened to be “Fireman Matt,” who visits schools on occasion to teach students about fire safety, including Rhae’s class, according to KSAZ.
KSAZ says Rhae hopes to become a police officer when she grows up so she can help save other people.
