Teacher tackles dog that bit multiple children at Oklahoma City school

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Multiple children were bitten by a dog outside an Oklahoma City elementary school Monday, according to district leaders.

Officials said the dog entered the playground at Fillmore Elementary school among about 200 3rd and 4th-grade students. The children ran up to the dog and it reportedly began to bite and chase after them.

Several students were injured in the attack before a teacher tackled the dog in the school's hallway and held it until police arrived. Twelve students were taken to the hospital with dog bites. Five were taken to the hospital by ambulance and seven were taken by their parents.

The injuries are not critical. They've been described as superficial bites and "escape injuries" while children ran away.

Animal Control is investigating to find who the dog belongs to.
