Sand Springs street dedicated for officer killed in the line of duty

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — Sand Springs police honored one of their own this week by dedicating the street that runs in front of the public safety center to the only police officer who lost their life in the line of duty, Assistant Chief Jesse Huskey.

Assistant Chief Jesse Huskey was shot and killed on Dec. 9, 1933, while he and another officer were patrolling the Minton Flour Mill following a series of thefts had occurred at the mill during the previous week, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

His family was in attendance along with members of the City Council, Nancy Riley, Brian Jackson, Matt Barnett, & officers and employees of the police department.
