Jackson Holliday, from Stillwater, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the number one overall pick in 2022 MLB Draft Sunday night. He’s an 18-year-old shortstop from Stillwater High School with an impressive pedigree.
Jackson is the son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday, nephew of OSU Baseball Head Coach Josh Holliday and grandson of former OSU Baseball Head Coach Tom Holliday.
Jackson, a left-handed hitter, hit .685 and with 89 hits in 41 games, he broke a national record for hits in a high school season that had been held by J.T. Realmuto.
University of Oklahoma pitcher Cade Horton was taken by the Chicago Cubs with the seventh overall pick.
