Stillwater’s Jackson Holliday picked 1st overall in MLB Draft

Jackson Holliday, from Stillwater, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the number one overall pick in 2022 MLB Draft Sunday night. He’s an 18-year-old shortstop from Stillwater High School with an impressive pedigree.

Jackson is the son of seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday, nephew of OSU Baseball Head Coach Josh Holliday and grandson of former OSU Baseball Head Coach Tom Holliday.

Jackson, a left-handed hitter, hit .685 and with 89 hits in 41 games, he broke a national record for hits in a high school season that had been held by J.T. Realmuto.

University of Oklahoma pitcher Cade Horton was taken by the Chicago Cubs with the seventh overall pick.
