Tulsa families can be ‘citizen scientists’ in new Discovery Lab, NOAA project

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s Discovery Lab is partnering with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for its Citizen Scientist Project.

Young children and their families in the program are encouraged to build a rain gauge and collect rain data for six weeks.

The data will be shared with NOAA and used to compare to extreme rainfall in other years, like 2019 when Tulsa and surrounding areas saw significant rainfall and flooding.

The project starts on April 18.
