Phillip Scott of Kiowa is one of these astronomers, but he is about to go down in the science history books.

Scott is being credited with the discovery of a new planet in the Cancer constellation which is a faint constellation, to begin with.

He collaborated with the international group to confirm his data before submitting it to be confirmed by the professional scientific community.

Should this planet be confirmed, it would be the *first* planet to be found by an all-amateur group!

Scott did tell FOX23 that he hopes this discovery opens the door to not only other planets being discovered but also other amateur astronomers to push themselves to see what is out there.
