    • There are two main heat alerts issued: Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warning
    • Many things can impact the heat

Heat Advisories are a normal occurrence in Oklahoma during the summer but for different places across the country, the Heat Advisory means slightly different things.

In Eastern Oklahoma here is the what a Heat Advisory means:

    • Heat index values range from 105°F to 110°F
    • It is important to take precautions immediately like drinking water, seeking shade, and taking breaks

An Excessive Heat Warning is issued when Heat Index values are higher than 110°F.

When these types of alerts are issued, it is key to take care of yourself. Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks and never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles.
