Sapulpa cemetery costs increase for the first time in 13 years

SAPULPA, Okla. — Sapulpa City Council agreed to raise the city’s rates for lots and burials several hundred dollars.

According to the meeting agenda, the city has not increased cemetery rates since 2009.

A fee study was made of regional cemeteries and Sapulpa’s rates were significantly lower. The fees charged for burials and lot sales are used for the operation and maintenance of the four city-owned cemeteries.

Fairview Cemetery and Sapulpa Cemetery are no longer used for burials. South Heights Cemetery and North Heights Cemetery have recently expanded to help meet the city’s future needs.

Adult grave plots a burial costs were each increased from $475 to $700. The price of cremations went up $100.

The proposed fees were agreed to unanimously by the City Council in their July 5th meeting. They went into effect immediately.
