Route 66 landmark almost ready

SAPULPA, Okla. — Quick Facts:

• Organizers of the Heart of Route 66 Museum are finishing their gas pump
• When complete, they plan to submit the pump to the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gas pump
• The museum opened in August of 2016; Visitors came from 31 countries and 30 states
• Friday, a 14-foot diameter globe goes on top of the steel pump; next are the handle, hose and paint
• The pump will be 66 feet tall
