Pryor lemonade stand raises thousands for Alopecia Foundation

PRYOR, Okla. — Fifteen-year-old Ryleigh Hill does a lemonade stand each summer as a way to give back.

In the past, she has selected charities such as St. Jude and the Progressive Animal Welfare Society. This year, however, she had a little helper who motivated her to pick the National Alopecia Areata Foundation.

Her four-year-old cousin, Blair Bacon, started loosing her hair last October. She was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder, alopecia. There are different levels of the disorder but basically it causes hair loss anywhere on the body. There are treatments but no cure.

We first talked to Blair in March after a comment about Jada Picket Smith’s shaved head was made at the Oscars.

All smiles and shades, Blair was there right alongside Ryleigh. In just two days, the girls raised more than $2,300!

Blair’s mom, Kortney, says she was blown away by all the support. If you would still like to help you can go to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and make a donation in honor of Blair.
