Police shoot, kill man who pointed gun at officers outside Guymon home, OSBI says

GUYMON, Okla. — Police shot and killed a suspect who authorities say pointed a gun at officers Monday afternoon outside a Guymon home.

Around 3:20 p.m. Monday, the Guymon Police Department received a call from someone in the 900 block of Northwest 16th Street. An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) news release says the caller made odd statements, prompting officers to respond and check on their welfare.

When police arrived, they found a man with a long gun pacing in the driveway. The news release says the man then put the gun down and went inside a home.

While clearing neighbors from the scene, OSBI officials said the man went back outside with a second long gun and pointed it at officers. The officers shot at and struck the man, killing him.

The OSBI identified the suspect as Randal Haynes, 53.

OSBI agents and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the deadly shooting.
