Overturned semi hanging from turnpike bridge diverts traffic in Henryetta

HENRYETTA, Okla. — Quick Facts:

  • Traffic is moving again on part of the Indian Nations Turnpike in Henryetta after an overturned semi crashed and went partially over the bridge.
  • Northbound lanes of the turnpike and eastbound lanes of I-40 reopened around 10 p.m. The crashed happened early Monday afternoon.
  • The driver of the semi-truck is not injured. Troops said he jumped from the cab of the truck onto the highway below to get to safety.
  • Four cars were involved. OHP said a driver did not yield when entering I-40 and hit the semi. The truck lost control, went through the guard rail and stopped on the bridge.
  • Two other cars hit debris on the turnpike.Only minor injuries were reported.
  • Drivers can expect significant traffic delays and are encouraged to avoid the area.
