OU-Tulsa receives a large gift to fund new dental clinic

TULSA, Okla. — On Jan 20 the University of Oklahoma announced that they are getting a dental clinic at their Tulsa campus with the help of a $2,000,000 donation from Delta Dental.

The clinic will be used for student learning and will provide dental care to community members in-need of affordable services.

“Oklahoma does not rate very high in terms of accessible and affordable dental care among the states in the united states and having a presence here in tulsa will help that considerably,” said OU College of Dentistry Dean Paul Mullasserial.

The 7,000 square feet facility will be located on the third floor of the Schusterman Center and will have 17 dental chairs providing cleanings, fillings, extractions, and implants.

Mullasserial said 10-15% of patients at the OKC clinic travel from Northeast Oklahoma because it is the only dental care they can afford and the new facility will provide a place for more Oklahomans to get dental care.

“58% of Oklahomans receive routine dental care so having an affordable option here in Tulsa will help considerably,” said Mullasserial.
