A shooting was reported near 61st and Peoria Tuesday.
One person was hurt in the gunfire, though homicide detectives confirmed he later died. He was identified as Teddy Prejean, also known as Ervin Sam.
Investigators say he was picking up children at his girlfriend's apartment before a confrontation broke out. They say he was likely targeted as he parked his car in the parking lot.
Savanna Landing apartments reportedly had banned him from the premises. He allegedly held ties to a 2016 killing in the area.
Police say Prejean's shooter was described as a Black man, 6'00" tall, 225 pounds, that fled the complex on foot.
More than a dozen new officers and firefighters responded to the scene just after 10 a.m., when second body was found with gunshot wounds in a nearby apartment. That body was identified as Shayron Brown.
An officer was allegedly punched on scene, but two people brought into custody after the incident were released pending further investigation.
During the investigation, police say they found Keenon White, a man they had been seeking in a number of other crimes, and arrested him. They say there is no strong connection between White's arrest and the two homicides, but he has not been excluded as a suspect.
