Search for Athena Brownfield transitions into recovery effort

CADDO COUNTY, Okla. — The search for Athena Brownfield has transitioned into a recovery operation.

According to an update from OSBI, several agencies continue to search for Athena’s remains. The search effort has centered around Caddo County.

Athena and her sister are related to Alysia Adams, and had been in her care for at least a year. Adams was arrested last week.

Adams’ husband, Ivon, is facing first-degree murder charges and child neglect charges in connection to Athena’s disappearance.

Ivon was arrested in Arizona and is awaiting extradition to Oklahoma.

OSBI agents have also interviewed Athena’s biological parents.

Investigators are asking that the public do not join in efforts to find Athena’s remains. You could be trespassing or interfere with the investigation.

OSBI also asks that the public refrain from spreading rumors involving the investigation.
