Gov. Kevin Stitt orders flags be lowered in honor of volunteer firefighter killed in line of duty

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Gov. Kevin Stitt on Tuesday ordered that all flags be lowered to half-staff to honor an Oklahoma volunteer firefighter who died in the line of duty.

Stitt ordered the flags to be lowered in honor of April Partridge, an Edgewater Park volunteer firefighter who died March 20 in a fast-spreading grass fire in Comanche County.

“I pray for God’s peace for her family and friends in this time of mourning,” Stitt posted to social media. “April’s service will not be forgotten.”

Also, the community came together to pay their respects to the fallen firefighter. A funeral was held Tuesday morning in Lawton.

A full procession to Fort Sill National Cemetery was held after the funeral.
