OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — A clemency hearing is scheduled for Wednesday for Oklahoma death row inmate James Coddington.
Coddington was convicted and sentenced to death for the beating and killing of an older man in 1997. Coddington was scheduled to be put to death on March 10.
Authorities put Coddington’s execution on hold because of the state’s lethal injection lawsuit. Lawyers in the suit say Oklahoma’s execution plan has a “substantial risk of severe pain and suffering.”
