Oklahoma Highway Patrol training for Mission: Secure OK Schools

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol began training Monday as a first step to comply with Gov. Stitt’s executive order involving school security.

Stitt announced Mission: Secure Oklahoma Schools (S.O.S.) in June in light of the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

The order directs all state troopers to complete active shooter emergency response training by the end of this year. All troopers have already received some form of this training, but this latest effort will enhance that training and equip dozens of troopers as designated trainers.

These trooper trainers will then take the training back to their respective parts of the state and train other troopers and law enforcement agencies.

OHP is utilizing LSU/NCBRT/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education for this training.
