Man leads police on slow speed chase in stolen truck

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said a man is in jail after leading them on a slow chase in a stolen truck through Sand Springs.

The truck’s owner told police he was asleep in the truck at a gas station when the suspect, Brandon Kirby, reportedly stole it.

Police said Kirby made it from Carthage, Missouri, all the way to Tulsa before the victim woke up and realized he wasn’t with his friend anymore.

The victim, along with a goat in the truck, was dropped off near 241st West Avenue and 71st Street South. After he called 911, the man called OnStar to report the stolen truck, and OnStar slowed its speed down to 15 mph.

Sand Springs police and OHP troopers pursued the truck at low speeds and used stop sticks to end the chase.

Kirby was taken into custody, and no one involved was injured.
