Federal investigators arrests men accused of 'Nigerian Romance' scam

TULSA, Okla. — A "Nigerian romance scam" operated across the United States led law enforcement to seven arrests and indictments for three additional people, officials announced in Tulsa.

U.S. Attorney Trent Shores, the FBI and the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice held a press conference Wednesday afternoon.

Agents arrested seven suspects Wednesday morning, according to the Department of Justice. Five of them were found in Norman, Oklahoma. The other two were arrested in Brooklyn, New York, and Long Beach, California.

Officials said the remaining three suspects are still at large.

Investigators said the suspects scammed people out of money and moved it between multiple bank accounts using fake IDs. Officials identified at least one victim in Pryor, Oklahoma. A second victim was identified in Seminole, Florida, and a third in Centerville, Ohio.
