Residents are moving into new apartments inside the former TransOK building this weekend.

“It’s really nice to kind of revive that charm,” said Daniel Regan with the new Art Deco Lofts and Apartments.

The building dates back to the 1920s when it was the headquarters for PSO. At the time, it was known by many Tulsans as the “Monument of Lights.”

The unique structure was built with the same type of limestone used in the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.

Owners are hopeful that having more residents in the heart of downtown will bring an economic boost to many of the new businesses popping up in the Deco District.
