Tulsa police identify man killed, son wanted in connection with murder

TULSA, Okla. — Quick Facts:

  • Kevin Russell allegedly shot his father Anthony Todd Russell *family says he goes by name of Todd and then left town.
  • The last time Todd was seen alive was Saturday.
  • Police say Kevin was arrested in Norman on unrelated charges and a family member bonded him out, taking him to Ardmore.
  • Ardmore police say last night around 11:30 he walked into a crisis center naked and caused a commotion. He was arrested there for disorderly conduct.
  • Norman police say he was arrested there on March 3 for possession of drugs
  • It was right about the same time that Ardmore and Tulsa police made the connection about the homicide.
  • Kevin Russell has been charged with first degree murder.

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in north Tulsa early Tuesday morning.

Tulsa police told FOX23 they went to the home near North Frankfort and East 40th Street North after a family member came home and found Anthony Todd Russell dead with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police say after the murder, Russell's son Kevin Lee Russell took his father's car, drove to Ardmore and was arrested twice for two unrelated incidents. Police later issued a warrant in connection to the murder for Kevin Lee Russell -- who is now in custody.

This is one of two separate homicides Tulsa police investigated overnight Monday into Tuesday.
