TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa's Gathering Place created an amazing memory for members of a Texas family who lost a precious stuffed animal while visiting the park over the holidays.
Jadah Queen told FOX23 she brought her family of eight to Tulsa from Lewisville, Texas, for a Christmas vacation. Her friend told her that if there was anything she needed to do while in town, it was to take her six kids for a day at the Gathering Place.
After a day full of fun and games at the park, the family packed up to head back to Texas when one of Queen's children, Rejee, realized that her stuffed dog Puppy Pup was nowhere to be found. Assuming the toy may have gotten lost in the car among their luggage, Queen deep-cleaned the car but still couldn't find the toy.
In a last-ditch effort, Queen said she called the Gathering Place to see if anyone may have turned in Puppy Pup. The staff member who answered the phone checked the lost-and-found. She discovered that someone had in fact turned in Puppy Pup
Queen offered to pay for shipping the toy back to Texas, but the woman refused, asked for the toy's name and address, and insisted he would be home soon.
When Puppy Pup arrived home, he came with a package that surprised the whole family. Queen shared a video with FOX23 of the moment when they opened the box to find a Gathering Place T-shirt, a letter and several photos showing Puppy Pup exploring and having fun at the park.
The note read:
Inside the box were photos of Puppy Pup enjoying the slides, eating a churro, hanging out with staffers and more.
Queen told FOX23 she is "enamored" with the way Gathering Place handled her daughter's lost toy.
"Obviously, the staff is beyond excellent. They truly love and care for their customers and community," Queen said. %
As for the park itself, she had nothing but great things to say and is already excited to return.
"The playground encompasses exploration, education, family, imagination, fitness, health, entertainment, and fun, all spread out across acres of space. They have entertainment for adults all the way down to my 6-month-old twins. The entire facility exudes a magical experience," Queen said.
