Woody Guthrie Center competing for USA Today’s best music museum

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s Woody Guthrie Center is a finalist for best music museum in USA Today’s 10Best series.

The museum rests in the heart of downtown Tulsa’s Arts District and houses the complete archives of folk music icon Woody Guthrie. The museum also has permanent exhibits dedicated to the life and career of Guthrie. Items include handwritten lyrics to “This Land Is Your Land,” several of his personal instruments and more.

Traveling exhibits also go on display at the museum. It is currently showcasing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Popular Music and the National Pastime.”

The Woody Guthrie Center is competing with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and several others.
