TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Public Schools will offer a virtual school option for the 2020-2021 school year.
Tulsa Virtual Academy will be available for the upcoming school year “for students and families who are at high-risk for infection or who would prefer to keep their children home.”
Participating students will still be students at their current schools, but they’ll do all of their studies virtually.
Do you have questions about how Tulsa Virtual Academy works? You can find those here.
The TPS interim chief learning officer says the online learning will be a combination of structure and flexibility, as teachers are working to build a schedule for students close to what they’re used to in the classroom.
Right now, the four main subjects (English, social studies, math and science) as well as electives needed for graduation are guaranteed to be offered online, as for specialized courses, they’re still working to build those in an online format.
There are exceptions allowed, but for the most part how a student chooses to learn in the beginning of the year can not be changed back and forth until the midway mark.
