TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police Officer Aurash Zarkeshan is leaving the hospital after a shooting that left him hospitalized and killed one of his fellow officers.
The Tulsa Police Department told FOX23 that Zarkeshan is doing “better than expected” and is moving to a specialized rehab facility out of state.
He is recovering from the June 29 shooting that injured him and killed Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson.
Police say Zarkeshan’s family is making efforts to show him how much support he has from the community for his recovery.
FOX23 and Cox Media Group are worked with the Tulsa Police Department to raise nearly $600,000 for the families of the two officers.
Chief Wendell Franklin says the money raised is helping to support Zarkeshan’s continued medical treatment.
