EXCLUSIVE: Tulsa mom fighting for inclusive playground in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Lauren George is speaking up about how badly Tulsa needs an inclusive playground.

She said that at most parks, the only thing her daughter, Lincoln, can participate in is swinging, and that means only baby swings if handicap swings are unavailable.

George says she’s talked to Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum about this, and he agrees, she said.

In a Facebook post, she said, “It is so important for the disabled population of Tulsa to be included in every aspect of living and one of the most crucial parts of being a child is play and peer to peer interaction... I’m desperate to see Linc be able to interact on a playground with her siblings and neurotypical peers.”

George is looking for other individuals and companies who would be willing to financially sponsor such a project.
