TULSA, Okla. — UPDATE: Universal Studios saw FOX23′s story about Declyn’s fundraiser. They decided to give her an extra special trip, allowing her to take part in a parade. Declyn also got a VIP tour of the park and a cabana at Volcano Bay. Declyn’s family shared pictures and videos from their trip.
When life hands you lemons... you sell lemonade and go to Universal Studios!
Declyn Beals is a big Harry Potter fan.
Her mom, Kelli, and her have a trip planned to Florida tomorrow, but sadly a Universal Studios stop was not in the budget.
Kelli says she’s been battling a rare disease, and she recently underwent surgery. She says, “The budget was just a little too tight, when you can’t pick up any extra shifts to work.”
That didn’t stop Declyn though. The young entrepreneur made signs, lemonade and set up a stand near 24th and Yale.
She has been outside almost every day in the heat working to raise the money she needs for Universal Studios tickets, where The Wizarding World of Harry Potter can be found.
She plans to continue selling lemonade until June 23. Kelli says Declyn has raised almost $2,000. That’s more than the $1733 she needed for the tickets.
Officers with the Tulsa Police Riverside Division even stopped by to make a purchase and congratulate her on a great work ethic.
