ONEOK Field fireworks show blamed for nearby roof fire Friday night, officials say

TULSA, Okla. — A fireworks show at ONEOK Field caused a nearby roof fire Friday night, officials say.

Tulsa Drillers Baseball said in a statement on Facebook some debris caught fire at nearby apartments under construction across the street.

The Tulsa Fire Department responded to the building at 201 N. Elgin Ave around 9:40 p.m. and the fire was contained.

Tulsa Fire Department Capt. Justin Flake said there were some challenges with the fire because the fire was six stories up. Several engines responded with two ladder trucks to get to the top.

“Every fireman today that worked together, got the job done and we got it done quickly,” Flake said.

Firefighters said the vacant building is still under construction and that the damage was mainly construction material.
