TULSA, Okla. — A suspected killer is back in Tulsa and behind bars after more than five years on the run.
Investigators believe Pedro Gaeta went to Mexico days after he allegedly killed Alvaro Deleon outside of his north Tulsa home in December 2009.
U.S. marshals told FOX23 that Gaeta tried to cross the border in San Diego to come back to the United Stated, but Customs and Border Patrol arrested him.
Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker said Gaeta was seeking revenge against Deleon. He said Deleon vandalized a car and house that belonged to Gaeta's brother.
He then ran to Mexico.
"We couldn't just go down there and kidnap him back. There has to be somebody who can say, 'He's right here, right now,'" Walker said.
So Gaeta was listed as wanted in hopes that he'd try to come back to America. That's how he was caught.
Investigators said Gaeta is also connected to the disappearance of an Arizona teenager. They believe she ran away with him to Mexico.
