Students at Tulsa Public Schools to wear masks despite expiration of city mandate

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Public Schools officials say masks are still required for students and staff at all TPS sites and campuses even though the city mask mandate has expired.

A Facebook post on Sunday by the district said “It is important to know that safety practices at Tulsa Public Schools will not change.”

Staff say masks must cover the nose and mouth.

They must be worn at any time or place people are present.

The exceptions include outdoors, eating, and mask breaks.

Masks should be two or more layers.

Parents will be notified of the first, two incidents of students not following mask requirements; and a third incident may result in students returning to distance learning.

“While every child should bring a mask to school,” it said in the post, “we will provide masks for students who need them.”

They say the TPS mandate will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.
