SAPULPA, Okla. — A five-year-old girl from Sapulpa raised hundreds of dollars in an effort to help get lunches for local police officers.

Avery Lemmon says she wanted to buy her town’s officers some healthy lunches, “so they can catch the bad guys.”

She decided to start a lemonade stand, called “Avery’s Lemmonade for police officers.”

Avery worked at the lemonade stand for six hours and raised almost $450.

Some officers came out to meet Avery at her lemonade stand. She gave all the officers a hug when she gave them the money and said “thank you.”

Patriot Cafe matched Avery’s donations, so almost $1,000 was donated to the Sapulpa Police Department.

Police say they may use some of the money to add a K-9 officer to the force.
