TULSA, Okla. — The deadline for open enrollment is Dec. 15, and experts say thousands of Oklahomans could qualify for low-cost health insurance without knowing it.
Joshua Peck, the co-founder of Get America Covered, says more than 160,000 Oklahomans qualified for zero-dollar monthly premium health insurance plans last year but went uninsured.
Peck says most people just assume they can’t afford health insurance and don’t look into their options.
A family of four, with an annual income of nearly $100,000 qualifies for financial aid. People between 18 and 64 years old who don’t have health insurance through their employers can go to healthcare.gov and apply.
Anyone who already has health care through the Affordable Care Act should update their information this year as it could save them money next year.
